Estudam-se, no presente trabalho, as vibrações livres de edifícios, utilizando-se a técnica do meio contínuo. Para tanto, são tratados apenas os edifícios cuja estrutura possa ser assimilada a um conjunto de painéis verticais. Estes painéis são supostos travados horizontalmente, ao nível dos dares, por diafragmas (lajes) de rigidez infinita em seus planos e nula transversalmente. De início, estudam-se, de modo sistemático, as vibrações livres de diversos tipos de painéis isolados e, posteriormente, as vibrações livres de suas associações. São feitas comparações com resultados obtidos por meio de outras técnicas.

This work deals with free vibrations in tall buildings using the continuous medium technique. Are studied only the building in which the structural can be treated as a set of vertical panels, tied horizontally at the floor level, through the slabs working as diaphragms considered rigid in their planes and with no transversal stiffness. At first are studied, in a systematic way, free vibrations of various types of isolated panels and then the free vibrations of their associations. Comparisons are made with results obtained by others techniques.
