Trata-se dos silos para armazenamento a granel do açúcar cristal branco. Inicialmente abordam-se as condições ideais que o açúcar deve apresentar para uma adequada armazenagem. Em seguida descrevem-se os equipamentos que o silo deve apresentar para manter aquelas condições ideais. Tendo-se em vista a analise estrutural comentam-se de um lado as recomendações da norma alemã para a estimativa das pressões nas paredes do silo. De outro lado, apresentam-se os resultados dos ensaios de caracterização do material, realizados em laboratórios. Entre os parâmetros de interesse destacam-se: granulometria, densidade, angulo de atrito interno, angulo de atrito interno equivalente e angulo de atrito entre o produto armazenado e o material da parede. Apresenta-se finalmente uma analise estrutural simplificada, em primeira ordem, dos efeitos da pressão horizontal exercida pelo material ensilado sobre a parede do silo. Avalia-se a distribuição dos esforços solicitantes a partir do confronto entre uma analise discreta, tratando a estrutura como um conjunto de pilares e vigas curvas e de outra continua, na qual a estrutura da parede e tratada como casca.

This work deals with the silos far barn storage of white crystal sugar. First, ideal conditions are reported about the sugar that must have suitable storage. Following this, the equipment which the silo must present to keep those ideal conditions, are related. With regard to structural analysis the recommendations of some international norms are commented on the estimation of the pressure silo walls. In this particular item the results of the tests, done in laboratory, of material characterize are presented too. Among the references of interest are as follows: granulometry, density, angle of internal attrition, angle of equivalent internal attrition and angle of attrition between the storage product and the wall material. Finally, a simplified structural analysis, in first order, of the effects of radial pressure exercised by material into the silo against the silo wall. The distribution of the demanded efforts since the confrontation between a tactful analysis, with attention to the structure as a set of pillars and curved beams, and to the other that is continued, in which the wall structure is considered as a shell. The calculus proceedings considered are derived from the theory of application of the thin shells and of the methods of the infinite elements.
